María José González is associate professor in the Department of Political and Social Sciences. She has been visiting researcher at the 'Centre d'Estudis Demogràfics' (UAB), the Department of Population Studies in El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (Tijuana, Mexico), the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies (UCSD, USA), and the Gender Institute at the LSE (UK). She conducted the Ph.D. at the European University Institute (2001) with the thesis entitled 'Occupational career and family formation in Spain'. Currently, she currently is involved in different national and international research projects on gender roles in the course of family formation, poverty and childcare.
